EV/HEV Project Engineer
The main task of the Project Engineer is to capture, define, develop the technical requirements and lead the product integration for a variety of electric and hybrid powertrain architectures. The successful candidate will create and execute engineering requirement documents, product performance metrics, and validation plans using appropriate analytical approaches to capture market growth of EV/HEV powertrain related products. Coordination between the engineering department in Japan, Customer Powertrain Engineering, and Quality Engineering is required.
Areas of Specialty
•Component requirement capture, definition, and tracking.
•Component performance compromise and trade off analysis.
•Document writing and archiving.
•Familiarity with requirements capture, FMEA, DVP and other software tools
•Simulation, Modeling and Integration of complex systems and subsystems
Qualifications
•Experience in the design of Inverters and/or Film Capacitors (DC-Link Capacitors. Looking for more than knowledge of these, but specific experience.
•Requires a bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
•Specialized(preferred) in Electric Motor Drives, Power Electronics, and Control Systems
•Basic knowledge of hybrid vehicle and electric vehicle battery performance characteristics.
•2-3 years design experience with electric motor drive systems
•7-10 years of experience in power electronics and power management or in a related area
•Clear understanding of the principles of electric and hybrid vehicle powertrain technologies
•Knowledge of electrical architecture and energy storage systems a plus
•Experience with power electronic circuit topology and magnetic circuit analysis and design
•A solid understanding of digital signal processing concepts
•A fundamental understanding of control systems applied to three-phase electric motor drives
•Familiar with high-power FETs, IGBTs, and other solid state switching devices Understanding and experience using automotive development quality tools (APQP, FMEA, 8D, PPAP).
